MARC JACOBS

Marc Jacobs Perfume and Designer History

Marc Jacobs' rise to fashion fame was not without its missteps; early on, Oscar de la Renta accused Jacobs of being a "copyist," and in 2008 he was accused of plagiarism (which was settled monetarily for an unknown amount). Through it all, Marc Jacobs has continued to produce designs known for their subtle elegance without flash, saying his clothes are "Not hot. Never. Never." In 2001 Marc Jacobs perfume was introduced and became immediately hot with outstanding sales, which continue to this day.

Marc Jacobs many accomplishments include:

  • 1984 Won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award, Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year Award at Parsons NY School for design
  • Mark Jacobs designs his first collection for Reuben Thomas, Inc under the Sketchbook label
  • 1986 Marc Jacobs label is born
  • 1987 Jacobs receives The Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. He was the youngest designer to ever receive this honor
  • 1994 Marc Jacobs begins producing menswear
  • 2001 Marc Jacobs Perfume is unveiled
Marc Jacobs Perfume

When Marc Jacobs perfume was first introduced in 2001, the scent was described as luxurious simple and of high quality; a fragrance faithful to the Marc Jacobs brand. Gardenia was the most dominant note in Marc Jacobs perfume, followed by a number of other floral scented fragrances. Marc Jacobs cologne was also introduced the same year.

Aromatherapy is the natural antidote to the emotionally draining effects of winter. Try citrus oils such as grapefruit, lemon and lime for a refreshing and uplifting feeling. Plus, pine, eucalyptus and camphor can treat congestion.
